Sheep · wool craft

Hello 2023!

Slowing down post Christmas-chaos and walking past my wool basket the other day, I realised just how many sheep and wool lessons were learnt in 2022 – spinning, shearing and wool dyeing, by attendance on both Natural Wool Dyeing and Design and Dye Workshops, were a few of the most notable experiences. Each opportunity has further ignited my love and passion for my sheep, their incredible fleeces and the wool craft that is possible as a result of it all, and I am so excited as to what can be achieved with my fleeces currently hoarded (and just starting to be cleaned…slowly)!

In the basket, handspun natural coloured Romney yarn, naturally dyed (with Weld) Merino yarn and the multi-coloured outcome of my Design and Dye workshop, which I absolutely adore! Hopefully I’ll be able to combine skills, experimenting with creating similar effects using other car park dye plants, food peelings and my never ending supply of used tea bags on the stained part of my sheep’s fleeces – watch this space!

I think 2023 will be the year to put my newly developing skills to the test! 💖 Happy New Year!
